Are you looking for the perfect Caribbean resort to visit with your family? Whether it’s for holiday travel, Spring Break or a summer vacation, my top recommendation is Four Seasons Nevis. We traveled there this summer with our 5 children: ages 4 to 14. Visiting Four Seasons Nevis with kids was one of the best vacations we have ever taken. Here’s why we loved it:
Four Seasons Nevis with Kids
The Location
Getting to Four Seasons Nevis with the kids was a breeze. Sometimes getting to a location that feels very far and removed from every day life can also feel like too much of a journey to get there (especially with kids). We flew into St. Kitt’s. There is a direct flight from EWR to St. Kitt’s and you arrive in just under 4 hours. It was a small, easy to navigate airport. The Four Seasons team is there to greet you and get you quickly to the boat over to the resort. The boat ride takes just 7 minutes and you pull up to a dock right at the resort.
We spent a few days on St. Kitt’s too but that’s for another post. Know that’s also a fun option: visit two beautiful islands in one trip!
The Beautiful Scenery
One of the reasons that Nevis is my favorite Caribbean island so far is that it was truly incredible scenery. Nevis is a volcanic island with Nevis Peak, the island’s highest point sitting in the centre of the island. The views of the island from the water are breathtaking. The resort itself was full of beautiful plants and flowers and we loved exploring the hilly golf course in search of monkeys. Everywhere you turn it’s picture perfect.
The Accommodations
Resorts are not always the easiest with a family of seven so I look for spots that have connecting rooms or villas. For this trip we stayed in a 3 bedroom villa at Four Seasons Nevis. This was plenty of space for our family. The teens had their own room and bathroom, all 3 boys fit in another room, we had a washer and dryer (major plus!), a kitchen, living area and the kids favorite: a pool. It was wonderful to have the space of a rental house but on the property of a resort with all the amenities.
The Beaches
One of the reasons that this is my top pick for a Caribbean resort for families is the beautiful beaches. Four Season Nevis has over half a mile of beach in front of the resort. It was quiet, relaxing and the perfect calm water for the kids to enjoy. It’s also the best snorkeling right on shore we have ever experienced which made for long beach days with the kids never wanting to leave. We even stayed to see a few sunsets on the beach which was wonderful.
The Activities
There were tons of activities at Four Seasons Nevis for the kid to enjoy. There are 3 pools and all are very different. One is adults only, so if the kids enjoy some time at the kids club, be sure to check out that pool and relax. There’s Calypso Pool which is fun for families and has a splash pad for kids to run around. Then, our favorite was Limin Pool.
On the beach, we loved all of the activities offered: stand up paddle, kayaking and snorkeling gear. All of that is included at no charge. The kids favorite beach activity: the giant water trampoline!
For kids, there are tons of activities offered through Kids for All Seasons. The kids can stay at the program on their own or just pop in for different activities.
The Nature
My kids are huge animal lovers. Most of them only was to visit new places if “there are new animals we can see”. This summer we had a few kids that wanted to relax on the beach and a few that wanted an “adventure”. Nevis was the perfect combo. The volcano, the snorkeling, the monkeys, the lizard hunting: all at a place where we could also relax by the beach and pool. The staff at the Kids Club were wonderful with teaching the kids about the wildlife on the property. There was also a fun (free) excursion where you could ride around the hills of the golf course to see tons of monkeys in the wild. We also loved getting up early in the morning and spotting monkeys in the trees near the villa.
The snorkeling was incredible for kids. We joked that some days it was like we dropped the kids into an aquarium tank because they could see so many different fish right off the shore. From our preschooler up to our high schooler, all the kids spent hours snorkeling right at the resort. We saw fish, sting rays and sea turtles.
The kids also loved learning about how Four Seasons Nevis helps with sea turtle conservation. For over 15 years Four Seasons Resort Nevis has been dedicated to the conservation of sea turtles that inhabit the waters of Nevis and nest on its beaches.
The Food
Four Seasons Nevis had excellent food options at the resort. We loved the breakfast. We always like to alternate between heading to a restaurant for the breakfast buffet and enjoying a quiet breakfast in the room. Both options were great.
There was a good variety for lunch and dinner. A few favorites:
- We loved everything about our meal at Mango. It’s right on the water and the food is outstanding.
- One of my favorite meals was at EsQuilina. It’s where you have breakfast in the morning but at night it’s a Mediterranean restaurant and was fantastic. My kids loved the fish that was available as a kids menu option too.
- Our favorite lunch was On the Dune: the shrimp tacos were top notch!
One day for lunch we walked down the beach to the famous Sunshine’s for lunch which was a blast. You have to get at least one “bee sting” while there!
They also helped us get transportation to and from a really neat restaurant on the island we wanted to try.
Our most memorable meal of the trip was the night we stayed in and had the resort’s chef cook dinner there. At Four Seasons Nevis you can opt for a chef to cook dinner and plan the menu ahead of time. That night the kids stayed in the villa’s pool while my husband and I got to relax. They hopped out of the pool for a family dinner, learned from the chef about the local foods and loved the dessert spread.
Something important to note about the food: if you have anyone in your family with a food allergy, I was incredibly impressed with the care and caution the resort took. My youngest has an allergy and while at other hotels they typically just tell us to avoid (almost everything!) Four Seasons found ways to make sure it was safe. They truly go above and beyond with this and it’s something we take into consideration when choosing a resort.
The People
We loved all of the people at Four Seasons Nevis. We really felt welcome at the resort. When you travel with 5 children, sometimes you worry that it will feel like you are somewhere that they should all be “quiet” or that the resort might not cater to kids or teens. All 5 children loved the resort and felt welcome. My youngest stepped on a bee one afternoon and we got help to the room in minutes, they made him feel better and even found him and checked on him the next day by the pool. And just when you think your big kids have phased out of the kids club, a member of the Kid’s Club staff takes them on a hunt to find lizards and shows them how to catch them. The people at the resort were wonderful.
If you are looking for the perfect place for a holiday vacation, Spring Break or looking ahead to next summer, I highly recommend Four Seasons Nevis for your next family vacation. Feel free to reach out with any questions. I’d love to help!
