This spring we took the kids to Washington, DC. For most of them, it was their first trip. We saw a lot, relaxed a bit and overall had a wonderful trip to the Nation’s Capital. I am working on typing up our itinerary to share but in the meantime I wanted to share details on where we stayed. Our hotel played a huge part in the success of the trip and I am so glad we found it. We stayed at the new Lyle Washington DC and here’s why we loved it for kids:
Lyle Washington DC for Families
Lyle Washington DC is located in the Dupont Circle. The Neighborhood right around the hotel is filled with trees, beautiful historic homes and makes walking around really nice for families. There is a playground 1 block from the hotel that is fenced in a really fun. We went to the playground multiple times a day. It’s the perfect stop en route to dinner (get all the energy out before sitting for a meal!) and on the way home from dinner too.
The neighborhood has tons of excellent spots to eat for families too. We walked to every meal we had while we were in Washington DC which makes life while traveling with kids so much easier.
It was also easy to get to the National Zoo, Children’s Museum and the National Mall. We did a golf cart tour and the cart came right to the hotel to pick us up. Everything was really convenient to get to from the hotel.
We loved the rooms at Lyle Washington DC. We got connecting rooms and both had a kitchenette. We had one room with a king bed and they brought a crib in for Teddy. The other room had 2 double beds for the other 4 kids. Their room also had a table and chairs that was perfect for a meal in the room. We loved the decor and that we could spot the Washington Monument out the window!
The Kids Amenities
Lyle Washington DC has really cute amenities for kids. You can get a tent in room to play, “Lyle, Lyle Crocodile” books to read and even Lyle croc stuffed animals. You can also request an ice cream delivery service to the room. As when booking for details.
The staff at Lyle Washington DC was really warm and welcoming to the kids. We never know what to expect when we roll up to a hotel with 5 kids in tow but the staff couldn’t have been nicer. They were very helpful with all of my questions about the area and helped out with anything we needed during the stay.
We really loved our stay at Lyle Washington DC. We saw all of the DC sites we had hoped to see, had a great neighborhood to walk around and at the end of a long day of touring: a comfortable spot to relax and sleep. I would highly recommend this hotel for visiting Washington DC with kids.
