Last week we had our fourth stay at Beach Shack in Cape May. Each time we go we love it more and more. It’s the best location, always an easy trip and it’s probably the only spot along the Jersey Shore that our whole family can comfortably fit in one hotel room. Cape May will always be one of my favorite places in New Jersey and here’s why I think Beach Shack is the best Cape May hotel for families:
Best Cape May Hotel for Families
The Beach Shack
The Location: Beach Shack is located right along the beachfront in Cape May. Once we park our car in their parking lot we rarely move it. You can walk to the Cape May Mall (outdoor downtown), to The Arcade, mini golf, coffee shops, places to eat and you are a very quick walk to Congress Hall. It’s really hard to find a better location in Cape May.
The Rooms: Like I mentioned above, Beach Shack is one of the only spots at the Jersey Shore that my family can comfortably fit in one hotel room. There are lots of rooms for 6. The room we like has: 1 King, 1 pull out couch and 1 adorable set of bunk beds. The rooms are all updated and the decor is fantastic. Every room we have stayed in has been clean and comfortable.
The Beach: Beach Shack is located right along the beach in Cape May. You simply walk across the street onto the Beach Shack’s beach. The staff is there to set up chairs and umbrellas and provide you with towels. This is not typically the case along the Jersey Shore so it’s a HUGE perk. It makes you feel like you truly at a beach resort. The beaches in Cape May are gorgeous and there are lifeguards stationed right where they set up the chairs for you.
The Pool: The pool and pool area at The Beach Shack was recently re-done. This is the first time we visited with the new pool and couldn’t believe how much of a difference it makes. It’s beautiful, heated and has a great area to sit around the pool and relax. You can order food and drinks to the pool – another reason why it really feels like a beach resort and a relaxing vacation.
The Rusty Nail: The Rusty Nail is a fantastic Cape May restaurant. They have live music out in the sand nightly, a fire to sit around and options to sit indoors, outdoors or in the sand. The Rusty Nail is on site at The Beach Shack which is super convenient and makes it an extra fun spot to stay. There are also tables and chairs outside of each room, so you can put the kids to bed and sit outside of your room, grab a drink and enjoy the music at night. The kid’s meals at Rusty Nail are served on frisbees so the kids can finish lunch and then have a new beach toy to enjoy.
The Beach Shack is part of Cape Resorts. Cape Resorts also owns Congress Hall which is just a couple of blocks from The Beach Shack. In the summer, Congress Hall is America’s first seaside resort and they have been making summer memorable for families since 1816. There’s a carnival on the front lawn, All-American picnics and more. It’s a special place to be down the street from in the summertime!
There are currently some more renovations going on at Beach Shack and I can’t wait to go back when they’re all done to see more updates. It’s such a fun, happy and EASY spot for our family to vacation. For more on Cape May and spots we enjoy visiting while we are there, visit this post.
