Four Seasons Costa Rica With Kids

If you are looking for a resort that is truly family friendly, you won’t need to go much further than Four Seasons Costa Rica. From the minute you check in, until you leave, you will be warmly welcomed. It’s truly a fun, family friendly adventure.

Top 10 Reasons To Choose the Four Seasons Costa When Traveling With Kids

10 reasons I’d recommend Four Seasons Costa for kids:

  1. The location

Four Seasons Costa Rica is located on Peninsula Papagayo. It’s a beautiful peninsula about 30 minutes from Liberia airport. You will be able to get direct flight, and the ride from the airport to the resort is quick and easy. The resort’s exact location gives families access to two beautiful beaches and plenty to do right on the resort (see below) and is also a great place to explore other parts of Costa Rica during your visit.

  1. The Beaches

One thing you’ll love about Four Seasons Costa Rica are the 2 very different beaches to enjoy. The Playa Virador faces the Pacific Ocean. It’s the larger of the 2 resort beaches but tends to be quieter. There is lots of room for kids to run and explore. In the evening there are the most amazing sunsets.

There are very gentle waves here, so kids can enjoy swimming. The other beach, Playa Blanca faces the bay. It’s the busier of the two beaches because it’s where the activities desk is. More on what you can rent there below.

  1. Kids for All Seasons

If you are looking for a Costa Rica resort with a kids club, FS Costa Rica is perfect. Their kids club is amazing. The Kids For All Seasons kids club has both indoor and outdoor space for kids. You can drop the kids off or hang there with them. Even if it rains, your kids will have plenty to do inside the clubhouse! There are tons of toys and games, books, a playhouse and more.

There are also daily activities to do like cookie decorating. Outside you’ll find a playground, basketball hoop and even a little pool just for the kids club.

The staff was wonderful at the kids club. They will make sure each kid is having fun. They are also great with kids that were hesitant to stay (we have one of those!). There is often a kids club party, and you can drop the kids off and enjoy an adult dinner alone. The kids had a blast and didn’t want to leave when we went back for them!

  1. The Pools

There are three awesome pools at the resort. One is adults only but here’s a trick if you are traveling with kids: each parent takes a turn to relax solo by the adult pool. It has a beautiful view and it is so quiet. It makes for a great break, even for an hour.

There’s a really big pool right in the middle of the resort. You will enjoy your time there, and you can even order lunch or dinner at this pool.

Right below it is a smaller family pool. There are big chairs to sit on under a tented awning that makes for great shade for the kids. At this pool the kids could bring in their floats too.

  1. Enjoying Nature and Wildlife on Property

On your drive to the resort from the airport, you may even have to stop for a monkey to cross the street. You can spot lizards, tons of hermit crabs, Koati, birds, fish and monkeys without leaving the resort. There is an amazing trail you can walk right from the resort beach too. Read more about that in our itinerary, here.

There’s also lots of wildlife to see over on the resort’s golf course. You can sign up for the “Trail of Giants” golf cart tour and see lots of wildlife.

  1. The Concierge and Staff

The concierge and staff at Four Seasons Costa Rica were incredibly helpful. Each person we met was so kind and friendly. We heard  “hola” from so many people at the resort throughout the day, that Teddy started saying it. We’ll always remember he learned one of his first words from the staff at FS Costa Rica!

The concierge is there to help you plan your activities at the resort.  They can set up a rental car, when you need it, and give you directions on where to go for what sights you’d like to see. They are very knowledgeable about their area, so they can help you make plans that will work for your family.

  1. The Ease of the App

Even if you are not a big “app user”, or you like to keep your phone off during vacations, you will love this app.  With it, you see everything going on at the resort for the day, message the staff to help you reserve the activities, make reservations, etc. It will be so helpful, especially when reserving what you want to do with your family.

  1. Dining at FS Costa Rica

You will be so impressed with all of the restaurants at Four Seasons Costa Rica. They have many great options for kids, too.

Head to Bahai for breakfast. It’s an open air restaurant with delicious breakfast, smoothies and the world’s best ice coffee. Enjoy in-room dining for breakfast, and eat breakfast in your pjs on the balcony.

Also, check out Anejo. The sushi and salads were amazing.

For dinner, you can’t go wrong at Pesce. They have wonderful Italian food with a great view. The food is amazing!

There are also a lot of options for eating at the beach and pool.

  1. Peninsula Papagayo Nature Center

An afternoon spent at Papagayo Nature Center will be very memorable. The whole family will love the animals, nature, and learning from a naturalist. This spot is right next to the resort, making it a must stop place.

  1. Daily Activities for Families

There are SO many activities each day for families at Four Seasons Costa Rica. Be sure to check out the giant chalkboards that list the day’s fun activities. You’ll enjoy beach activities like kayaking and dance lessons. Also check out the Tour of Giants.

For more details on some of the specific activities we did at the resort, visit our Costa Rica itinerary post, here.

Overall, you will be so impressed with all of the amenities for families at Four Seasons Costa Rica. Your kids will have space to run and play, enjoy delicious food, and lots of family time. You’ll truly learn what pura vida is all about here.
